Two Kansas Highway Patrol officers provided farmers with some trucking answers at a recent Channel Achievement Series meeting in Colby, Kan.
Officers Steven Rice and Bryan Werth mainly discussed size and weight restrictions as related to farm vehicles, as well as bridge restrictions. They touched on commercial enforcements they deal with, as well as safety inspections.
The officers also do commercial vehicle enforcement, and in some cases even farm trucks might be subject to that law. They also verify registrations and can check for authority of permits--including fuel permits--and dyed fuel inspections. Livestock laws are also on their list.
"On the federal side of it, with our federal safety inspections we do, we've received 80 plus hours of training in order to do these," Werth said. "We also do driver inspections as well as equipment." [Read More]
